Mathew 25:1-9

“At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish and five were wise. The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep.“At midnight the cry rang out: ‘Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’“Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.’ “‘No,’ they replied, ‘there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’

The passage today is about readiness. It is about getting ready for the Second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The promise of His coming appears to have delayed and men have become busy with the affairs of this present world. The church has been caught up in the faithlessness concerning the Second Coming. Because the church has stopped talking about it, its members are also living as though there is no such important future event. It most likely will be a fair assertion to say that most new born again believers today have no mentality of the Second Coming.

The caution here is that we do not want to be like the foolish virgins in this story told by Jesus Himself about the Kingdom and His coming. That is the more reason we have to take heed. Jesus Himself warned us. Let us not join the skeptics and the mockers like the people of Noah’s day who ate and drank and were given in marriage till the flood suddenly came upon them.My earnest prayer for you is that you stay conscious and ready for His coming.

 Prayer

1. Thank God for not keeping the Second Coming of Jesus hidden from us. Jesus spoke more about His coming than anyone else.

2. Ask God to keep you committed to the expectation of Jesus’ second coming.

3. Father, I ask for the help of the Holy Spirit to keep Jesus’ Second Coming in my conscious thinking every single day so as to keep myself in readiness.

 Declarations

I declare today that my mind is focused on the Second Coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  I shall not be disappointed, I shall keep my lamp burning till He comes to find me waiting for Him in the name of Jesus.
