1 Corinthians 3:10-15

10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. 11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. 14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

We all agree that what makes huge buildings last long and not breakdown is the strong foundation on which they stand. If strong foundations are needed for buildings, what shall we say about human lives? From the day we are born, foundations for our future life starts. Our parents start and at a point we take over.

The Apostle Paul is very straightforward with us in exhorting that we take care in choosing what foundation on which we build our lives. I am sure he is mindful of Jesus’ statement that the wise man builds his house upon the rock; saying also that the foolish man builds his house on the sand because the winds of life will surely blow and only the house upon the rock will stand life’s storms.

The word of God is surely the solid foundation upon which any man can build and expect his life to abide forever, standing against the storms of this life. How far you go in this life and succeed is largely determined by whether all you do is informed by God’s word or not. Only that which is built on Christ and His word will stand.

1. Thank God for giving us the sure foundation upon which to build our lives – that is Jesus Christ. It means giving our lives absolutely to Jesus.

2. Pray for grace to live your life in accordance with what the Bible has said.

3. Father, I thank You for your word that guarantees that I will succeed in this life and experience victory all the times.

I am winning on every side because my life is built on the solid rock, Christ Jesus my Lord. The word of God cannot be broken. I choose to align myself with the word. I will not be broken!  I declare by divine authority that I will continue to order my life in accordance with the word of God and I am confident that my victory in life is guaranteed in the name of Jesus.
