Proverbs 3:7-10

Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones. Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; 10 then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.

As you possess your possessions this year, there are certain biblical principles you must follow. The key amongst them is that you must honor the Lord. Remember that God does not need your wealth. He is so wealthy that what you “give” to Him is less than the size of an atom. All God expects of you as He brings you into financial and material prosperity is that you honor Him.

The first way to honor God is to acknowledge that He is the Source of all that you have. In other words, it is God who has given you all you have. That is the point where many falter. We have heard statements about hard work, taking your life in your hands, the lazy person shall live in poverty, etc. These are eternal truths, but none of them puts God’s providence into the background.

If we truly honor God and acknowledge that He is our source of every good thing, then when He asks us to distribute what He has given to us in a certain way, we must oblige accordingly. If we do not, we indirectly tell Him that what we have belongs to us, and that it is by our sweat and toil that we acquired them. Our attitude to giving towards God’s work shows our belief that God truly owns all we possess.

1.      Thank God for what you have experienced so far in this year of possessing all your possessions.

2.     Ask for humility so you can honor God all the time with your substance.

3.     Father, I thank You for all you have bestowed on me this year. I hold it all in trust for You.

I declare that I am blessed and highly favored. I thank God for His blessings upon my life. I honor Him with my substance. I acknowledge His faithfulness and know that all that I have is from Him. I declare that I will not hold back; I will be faithful to God. I will release the blessing wherever and to whoever I am directed to by my God. All I own is from God and I will I continue to handle them as God’s own in the name of Jesus.
