Deuteronomy 30:9-10

And the Lord thy God will make thee plenteous in every work of thine hand, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy land, for good: for the Lord will again rejoice over thee for good, as He rejoiced over thy fathers:10 If thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law, and if thou turn unto the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul.

One characteristic of God that runs through human history is that God is the God who keeps ispromises. That is the hope of the believer. There however is a condition to this promise and its fulfillment with God. A lot of His promises have some conditions attached to them. On several occasions God has said, “If you do this, I will abundantly bless you”.

Whatever it is that God is asking us to do therefore has the power for the unleashing of the promises. Once God speaks, He releases the substance of the promises, and the arrival of the substance is also determined by our willingness to meet the promises. God does a lot of things for us purely by His grace, yet He will do many things for us when we fulfill our portion of the bargain.

Even the fundamental act of becoming a child of God is based on calling on Jesus to save you. If you do not do that, the entire package of being born again continues to hang around you waiting to drop in your lap. The rest of the Christian life works that way. Meditate on today’s passage and find what God expects of you in what you are asking Him to do for you. Be blessed.

1.      Celebrate God’s faithfulness in keeping His promise to humanity, especially you.

2.      Ask for the faith and willingness to commit to the simple instructions God associates with receiving his blessings.

3.     Father, please help me commit to simple obedience, to do what You require of me daily.

I declare today that I am an obedient child of God. The years of disobedience are over. I walk in newness and everything God said now means so much to me. In the years ahead, I pledge to meet all God’s conditions for receiving the fullness of what He has promised to me in the name of Jesus.
